Astrophytum asterias ‘Super Kabuto’  Family: Cactaceae.   The Japenese Sea Urchin cactus.  One of the most attractive forms of Astrophytum. This cultivar is like the normal Sea Urchin cactus but with a much patterning of white flecks. This patterning is different on every plant. Makes beautiful yellow or red flowers in summer.  Fairly easy to care for, except it can be fussy about overwatering especially in winter. Surprisingly, it is less rot prone than the normal form or the species.  Can take light frost when more mature but best to protect when possible.
